Do you want to make tooth brushing seem like a game for your child/children?
So that they can't wait for tooth brushing time to come?
At the VSmile dental clinic we teach the children about oral hygiene and encourage them to keep it up. This isn't always the easiest thing in the world! For this reason, when the child is young, we train the parents so that if necessary they can brus their children's teeth, and give them ideas to make the process seem more like a game! Here are some ideas for you:
We suggest that children choose their own toothbrushes in the colour and design that they like!
Brush your child's teeth then let them brush them by themselves!
Organise a tooth brushing competition with your children. The children mak ehte rules. Everyday the winner gets a point. At the end of the month whoever has the most points gets a small gift!
Dress up as the evil tooth decay witch, that wants to destory teeth, and hold a spoon for a wand. Explain to the child that their toothbrush is a super strong weapon that takes down witches strenght every time they clean their teeth, At first you win but in the end of course you lose!
Invent a story about something your child is interested in and every time they brush their teeth tell them an epsidoe of the story. You can be sure they wont be able to wait for the next part!
Brush you teeth together listening and dancing along to one of thier favourite songs!
Let them give thier teeth names from their favourite characters from children's series and every time they brush their teeth you have to guess which hero they are cleaning!
Explain to your children that everytime they brush their teeth they are killing the bugs that make them go bad. Once they are done brushing ask them the chew the special tablet that reveals plaque (available from pharmacies). Wherever they haven't brushed properly, the tablet leaves a pink colour on the teeth. This is how they know where the little bugs are hiding so that they can get rid of them properly the next time they brush!
It's not about how much you try..it's about how you do it!
