THE MOUTHGUARD MAKING PROCESS
At the VSmile dental clinic we go ahead with the construction of the mouthguard once we have established the following:
- the danger level of the sport
- age
- if there is ongoing orthodontic therapy or not
During the first appointment the dentist makes a mould of the teeth. This is used to create a cast on which the guard will be created using non-allergic materials. At the VSmile dental clinic, Piraeus, the mouthguards are constructed using non-toxic and non-allergic EVA materials that have worldwide recognition.
During the second appointment we demonstrate how to put on the mouthguard, and it is given to the patient inside the case designed for storing and carrying the guard. Guards are usually only used for the top teeth. In rare cases a guard will be given for the bottom teeth , for example if the patient has protuding jaw.
