ENDODONTIC THERAPY / ROOT CANALS
advice for the period after the endodontic therapy
During the endodontic therapy the tooth is under a local anesthesia. Some sensitivity is too be expected from the process, and this is due to either the revitalisation of an exisiting infection or irratation in the tissue around the tooth due to the therapy.
The following instruction from the Piraeus VSmile dental team can help you deal with any possible irritation or pain:
If you are in pain once the anesthesia has worn off you can take a painkiller every 4-6 hours
Avoid chewing on the side where the root canal was done, espcially hard food types.
If you see some swelling, put some ice in a towel and place it on the outside of the mouth in the adjacent area to where the pain is, keep it there for 10 minutes and repeat every 1-2 hours
You can wash out your mouth with warm (to hot) camomile.
